Frequently asked questions
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is often described as a sleep-like state, but it is better defined as a state of focused attention, heightened awareness and increased suggestibility. In the hypnotic state, we are able to bypass the conscious mind (the part concerned with motor functions, logic and cognition) to gain access to the subconscious mind (the realm of emotions, beliefs, memories and involuntary actions). While in this state, your subconscious mind is more open to processing suggestions to improve or change behaviour. This is where we can begin to address the deeply rooted issues that have been guiding your behaviour and preventing you from moving forward in your life.
How does hypnotherapy work?
It's not magic, rather a reprogramming of your mind. During a session clients are guided through a process, much like guided meditation, to induce a trance-like hypnotic state. In this state of heightened suggestibility and deep relaxation, the conscious mind is temporarily 'put to sleep', allowing you to uncover the root cause of your issues and to become more open to change or therapeutic improvement through hypnotic suggestion. The stronger the motivation to change, the more effective it is. Hypnosis helps to develop new beliefs and behaviours, that when reinforced, will last a lifetime.
What does it feel like?
DON'T expect to feel "hypnotised", DO expect to feel relaxed. The experience feels different for everyone. Some people feel a floating sensation, others may feel sleepy, but most people feel relaxed and at ease. What’s most important is to know that how you feel isn’t an indicator of how effective it is. Regardless of what it feels like - it’s working. I promise.
How many sessions do I need?
The number of sessions needed will depend on your individual issue, usually between one to three sessions. RTT typically requires one single session to target a particular issue. So for example, if you're looking for public speaking, that would be one session. If you also want to resolve emotional eating, that would be another session. Following each session, it is necessary to complete the 21 days audio to effectively target the issue.
When will I start to see a change?
There are 3 types of change from Rapid Transformational Therapy (everyone is different): 1. Immediate: You feel a massive shift right away - immediate changes in your physiology, thoughts and behaviours right after the session. 2. Incremental: You see consistent shifts every day, or over time. 3. Retroactive: You don’t see the shifts right away and then one day you suddenly look back and see all of the things that are different in your life.
What if I think I already know the reasons behind my issue?
What makes RTT amazing is that even if you think you know the reason, you see it in a completely new way. That’s what allows you to change the meaning and ultimately, change your beliefs. And for many clients they go back to scenes that are totally different than what they expected. Just relax and trust that your subconscious mind will show you exactly what you need to see.
